Low temperature ultra-high vacuum microscope STM
STM microscope is designed for ultra-high vacuum environment and low temperature (20 K) measurements. Scanning is realized by the tip attached to the tube scanner on Attocube coarse approach. The conical shape of the head provides high stiffness of the device. Head is placed on the damping platform witch provides insulation from external vibrations. Isolation is realized by a series of metal springs and eddy-current dampers. Microscope head is enclosed in a thermal shield and fixed to platform only by metal strings witch restricts thermal conductivity to surroundings.
